How our AHC service works
Check your pet is eligible
Your pet must have a valid rabies vaccination. If they need one, we offer same-day rabies vaccination appointments — just book with us and we can vaccinate and issue the AHC once the 21-day wait has passed.
Book your appointment online
Use our online booking system to choose your appointment date and time — available 24/7. We can only issue your AHC within 10 days of your travel date and at least 21 days after the rabies vaccination.
Complete the pre-appointment form
Download and complete our pre-appointment form. Ask your vet practice for your pet's rabies vaccination certificate or medical history — they'll give it to you directly, and you'll need to forward it to us by email at [email protected] or via WhatsApp before your appointment.
Collect your AHC
Come to your appointment with your pet. The appointment takes around 20 minutes — we'll carry out the health check and issue your Animal Health Certificate there and then.

What is an Animal Health Certificate?
An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is an official document required to take a dog, cat or ferret from the UK to the EU. It must be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV) within 10 days of your departure date, and is valid for one trip to the EU only.
AHCs are only for dogs, cats and ferrets travelling to the EU (as well as Switzerland or Norway). If you are travelling with another species, or outside the EU, you would need a different type of certificate — we can advise on this.

OV66-approved checks to reduce quarantine
Australia has some of the strictest biosecurity rules in the world. As an OV66-approved practice, we can carry out the official pre-export health checks required by the Australian government — helping to minimise the time your pet spends in quarantine on arrival.

RNATT Declaration — £50
The Residency, Nationality and Travel (RNATT) declaration confirms your pet has met the residency requirements for entry into Australia. This can be completed remotely — no in-person visit required. We will guide you through the process and issue the signed declaration.
Why Australia is different
Unlike EU travel, taking your pet to Australia involves a mandatory quarantine period. However, pets that arrive with the correct pre-export documentation — including an OV66 health check — can qualify for a reduced quarantine period of as little as 10 days rather than the standard 30.
The process must begin well in advance of travel. We recommend contacting us at least 6 months before your planned departure to ensure all requirements are met in time.
